During the uncertain times of war when couples were separated, many wanted to cement their relationships through marriage. Women still managed to have a white wedding despite rationing by borrowing clothes from friends and relatives. Under garments were commonly made from parachute silk. Over the years, the women have carefully preserved the mementoes and good luck charms seen in these pages from their special day. Click on the images to enlarge. |
