Empire Bar

La Freaks is the name of a writing group from Foxhill. The members of the group are good friends and as such the group is a key part of their lives. They have a lot in common and support each other as single mothers and parents of children with special needs. Their poetry provides an outlet for their feelings and they use it often to tell others about what they have been through. Above all, they have fun together, particularly when dressing up to go out on the town.

"We've gone out with wigs. In our blue wigs, pink wigs, all different sort of colour wigs. Yeah, we could be a bit boisterous, and get people sort of staring and well, we give them something to stare at! You know, we're human, we like having a laugh, and the wigs were to promote that we're La Freaks."

A Freakish Night Out by Tree Wade

Purple eye shadow
Black lipstick
Spread good 'n' think
I'm getting ready for
A freakish night out

Dressed in my retro gear
Collar that strikes up fear
I'm getting ready for
A freakish night out

The place the I set
The Empire I bet
Go get the freaks
For a freakish night out

We go and have fun
Drinking jugs everyone
Then get in with the sun
On our freakish night out
